Where to eat in Bonaire

It's not technically a beach bar, but it's set on a pier and it promises happy-hour specials, sunset views and good vibes all around. 

Sebastian's gets top marks for its romantic waterfront location, especially if you manage to snag the solitary table for two that's out at the end of the pier (book way ahead). The menu changes frequently, but there's always plenty of seafood; the octopus carpaccio and red-snapper fillet are favorites. They offer fine Mediterranean dining, with hints of the local influence which makes Bonaire such a unique island. Their dishes are made only with fresh, seasonal ingredients so that their customers only have the best dining experience.

If you are looking for something casual but delicious, then the Kite City Food Truck is a must-try! They have delicious salads, wraps, burgers, and seafood platters. Because of their locale, they have access to locally caught fresh fish, which means their seafood options slightly vary day by day. Kite City Food Truck is located on Te Amo Beach, so you can have a beautiful view with your food.

This cool and contemporary place is an excellent place to spend an evening, taste the unusual dishes, and watch the night divers. The tempting offering includes several options for tarte flambée, local fish specialties such as sea salt crust sea bream, and a delicious Parmesan truffle pasta, prepared at the table in a wheel of cheese.

Try It Rains Fishes along the main boardwalk next to the Kralendijk marina. Some of their best dishes are their fresh oysters and fresh fish ceviche. The oysters are particularly special because of the constantly changing toppings. In addition to great food, they offer some of the best cocktails you will ever have. When you are there you must try their Caipiña or Margarita.

Located on Bachelor’s beach this food truck has a perfect and central location for a quick lunch in between dives. Make sure you try the delicious truffle fries as well! They sell large and tasty burgers and hot dogs, with a variety of chips. They also sell cooldrinks/pop/soda. The burgers are cooked perfectly and the options for add-ons make for a unique meal.

This Italian restaurant is pretty unique because there is no set menu! You can tell the waiter if there is anything you don’t like, but you don’t know what you are eating until it’s in front of you. They offer small plates for $7 and wine for $5. You can order as many or a few courses as you want.

Patagonia is a family run business offering delicious Argentinian food, located on the boulevard on Kralendijk offering seaside dining. They have an extensive menu. Choose from juicy steaks, grills, or Patagonia's well-prepared seafood and salads. Their specialties include traditional old-world-style Paella and prime rib to satisfy even the hungriest appetite. Seafood pasta, grilled fish, Argentinian specials, and desserts are always on the Patagonia menu! 

This is a cute little Italian place that makes you forget you are on an island. The interior looks like a restaurant you might see in a less tropical location with walls stacked high with wine bottles. Great food, great wine.

Boudoir a boutique-style restaurant with charm, excellent food, and outstanding service. The food is healthy, scrumptious tasting, and a wide choice variety. This is an excellent in-town choice for a meal in Bonaire.

Cactus Blue on Donkey Beach has a cozy atmosphere and the best island view right on the beach. Come to this fun food truck and enjoy a great and tasty lunch. Of course, you should try the famous Lion Fish Sandwich which also helps protect our nature.

This is a little coffee and ice cream shop right on the water downtown that has the best ice cream in Bonaire. Luciano Bonaire is located alongside the beautiful boulevard of Bonaire, just right in the heart of Kralendijk. You can kick-start your day with us with a warm and delicious Illy Coffee to wake up your soul and end it with a mojito cocktail and scoop (or two) of Luciano Ice Cream.

 It’s located right across from the water in town with a nice view. You can get crepes and waffles with sweet or savory fillings.

This restaurant has lots of outdoor seating right in the main square near the cruise terminal. The menu is international with a Cuban flair. The food is good and the prices even better.

Whichever meal you're hungry for, Exito has you covered. Breakfast is a build-your-own sandwich bar and good coffee, while lunch-buffet offerings include sandwiches, salads, rice, and rotating mains. Dinner is usually sushi, chicken, and hamburgers, but Wednesday is an Indonesian buffet night. The service is fast and excellent, and there's a lovely terrace.

Don’t let the name fool you: there are tables here, outback under a nice tree. But getting one is a challenge, as everybody turns up for the super-tender ribs and the velvety peanut sauce on the plate of Indonesian-style chicken satay.

There are two reasons to stop at this roadside shack in Rincon village: pumpkin soup and milkshakes, both made with an extra dose of love by owner Norman. This is what you want for lunch after you've spent a morning diving at 1000 Steps or hiking around Washington-Slagbaai National Park.

Hidden in an unassuming strip mall you'll find a wonderful Colombian eatery—Bonaire’s best hole in the wall. The owners specialize in Colombian fare and offer fresh locally caught fish along with other regional items. Try the house-made avocado sauce on your fish or chicken. The lomito (beef) is a house favorite, as is the whole red snapper in creole sauce. Choose the fried yuca as a side. House-made desserts include a sublime tres leches cake.
